I deeply apologize for all the delays for updating both of my projects, as I don’t have a laptop at the moment! T_T My mother goose has been using my laptop for her online business venture so I’ve been translating on my phone, which takes forever! Please bear with me for now as I’m saving up for a smaller laptop just for posting updates and other not-so-demanding-on-hardware stuff.

I was not informed about the bath. In the room, there was nothing like a shower or bath furnace. I can just be upfront and ask about it, but first, let’s check if it’s written in the encyclopedia that I bought.

I took the encyclopedia out of my bag and sat down on the bed.

It appeared to be a booklet fastened together with string.

When I opened the cover, there were several entries separated in the table of contents, and something like a foreword was written on it. Moreover, I was able to read the letters without difficulty.

Jerome said it was an encyclopedia, but it seems that it was more like a manual. Written on it is elementary level knowledge targeted towards adventurers. It seems that the difference between an 『Adventurer』and a 『Traveler』is just whether or not one is registered with the Guild. Here it comes, the Guild! I’m excited!

An『Adventurer』is the occupation in which one is registered with the guild and earn by performing quests. A 『Traveler』 so to speak is….. a past time.

Did the villagers call me a Traveler because I did not look like an Adventurer? I’m not armed with a sword, and I don’t look that strong…..either?

The guild is something like an employment agency, for things like helping with ordinary everyday chores, collecting materials for weapons, armor and medications, Subjugation of designated monsters and collecting those monsters’ parts, and investigating dangerous areas. At times, it could be escorting, transporting luggage, even participation in war they can be employed as a quest.

In this aspect, there is not much difference from what I know from games. Adventurers who are registered with the guild raise their ranks through things like experience and popularity.

F and E are beginners, D would be an ordinary adventurer, C is a competent adventurer, B is acknowledged as full-fledged and are separated into fields of expertise in which they operate, when they reach A rank, they are revered.

S and SS are considered extraordinary, where S ranks are called heroes, and they reach SS, they become an existence that even kings have to lower their heads to.

I don’t understand it that much but, anyway it probably just means that superior ranks are amazing. They might even shoot mysterious light beams from their eyes.

There are only four SS-class adventurers in the whole world. Location unknown, it says.

They’re said to be those to whom kings have to lower their heads to, so surely it wouldn’t be that easy for a total commoner to meet them. I did not even think of wanting to meet them so whatever.

Next, currency value.

The currency is shared worldwide, and can be used in any region. the form might vary depending on which country, but in general, they are copper coins, bronze coins, silver coins, white silver coins, gold coins, and continental gold coins. One copper coin is 10 Reib, one bronze coin is 100 Reib, one silver coin is 1000 Reib, one white silver coin is 10,000 Reib, one gold coin is 100,000 Reib, and one continental gold coin is 1,000,000 Reib.

The common people mainly handle silver and copper coins, gold and continental gold coins are mainly handled by merchants or nobles. Above continental gold, there seems to be something like bank notes.

「I verified this before as well, but 1 Reib seems to be around 10 Yen in value. But the unit of measure is in Reib. There is no coinage for 1 Reib. The lowest cost for commodities is 10 Reib……. so it says.」

I took out the coins that I had on me, and reviewed its shape. Compared to Japanese coins, they are a little bigger and unrefined. I wonder if the design etched on the coin is this country’s crest.

What I have on hand are 10 copper coins. The candies I bought at Jerome’s general store was not sold individually but was sold at 100 Reib per jar. If it were in Japan, a jar with this much candy in it could cost around 2,000 to 3,000 Yen though.

Even after treating the kids to some, it was only reduced by thirty percent. It has a citrusy flavor and is quite delicious.

In this world, I did not have the idea of working somewhere to acquire a regular income. A stable lifestyle would be nice but, in that case, nothing would have changed from my previous world. I no longer want to be picked on by higher ups.

I might as well travel around the world and see different kinds of things, and for that, becoming an adventurer should be the quickest way, I reckon. Travelling might be my hobby, but I must also earn my living expenses.

I put my money jingling back into the pouch, and once again put that pouch into my bag. As I did so, I looked for a purse from which money is easier to take out.

With that done, let’s talk about Magic Items…. they seem to be convenient tools powered by magic stones.

To find out what a magic stone is, I turned to another page, and it says there that magical crystal stones that take in magic essence are called magic stones. By putting different kinds of magic into the magic stone, a peculiar tool that uses that as a source could be materialized, so it seems.

Magic essence could be said to be the origin of magic power, I guess. Basically, magic stones are like batteries. Those magic stones have different types, and has different effects, so it says.

Item Boxes are convenient, but because of the rarity of special ability users who can manipulate space, its appearance in the market is extremely rare. On top of that, it is is highly expensive, its lowest price being around a several pieces of continental gold coins……

“Now then, is there anything about baths written in here?”

There’s no way that the specifics on commoners’ private everyday lives would be written in an adventurer’s manual book. That kind of thing would be too much of a general common knowledge that it would not be written.

As I’ve thought, I have no choice but to ask, huh?…… As I was thinking so…

The sound of knocking on the door.

So even in this world, knocking on the door before entering a room is also proper etiquette. Let’s keep that in mind.

“Yes.”

“I’m one of the inn’s staff. Dear guest, I brought you hot water.”

Why hot water? While thinking so, I opened the door.

There stood a freckled girl wearing braids. Her age is around ten years old. She held a heavy-looking bucket kind of thing. Within it was steamy hot water from which vapor rose.

“The first hot water is for free. If you want to add more, then it would be 30 Reib each time.”

“Un, thank you…. so then, I wonder if it’s alright to ask.”

“What would that be?”

“I am someone who travels, and am very unfamiliar with this country.”

“Uh-huh…”

“…… What am I supposed to do with this hot water?”

When I intentionally acted embarrassed as if it was hard to ask, she burst out in laughter. She’s cute when she laughs, isn’t she?

“For wiping the body, or wiping your feet. Mr. Traveller feels dusty, right?”

“Ahh…. the hot water is for that, is it? Uhm, a bath…. do you know it?”

“I know it, but there’s no bath here, you know? We’re not aristocrats after all.”

“Eh!”

No bath, you say?

“There seem to be public bathhouses in Belkaim, but in Tolmi there’s none.”

“So then, everyone just wipes their bodies? How about the head?”

“We wash them in the washing place by the well.”

Uwaaa.

That’s just, how should I say this, uwaa.

As a Japanese person who loves baths and hot springs, it was like being thrust down to the depths of despair.

“It seems that a strong mage can use magic to clean themselves, but there’s none of them in Tolmi.”

“With magic, you can clean yourself?”

“Yeah. I don’t know the specifics so I can’t really explain it well though. I’m sorry.”

“No no, I’m already grateful that you informed me about that special kind of magic.”

I brought the bucket into my room, and took out the pouch that I was using as a wallet from my bag. I don’t know how much they usually give for tips, but I held out 5 copper coins. That’s 50 Reib.

“Eh? This hot water is free of charge, you know?”

“This is my thanks for the information, and since I’ll be staying here for a few days, I’ll be under your care… so yeah.”

“But”

“Will the landlady scold you if you take this?”

“It’s not like that, but…….”

“In that case, would you could take it for me?”

The girl timidly stretched out both hands. As I dropped the copper coins onto the palm of her hands, she smiled in bewilderment. That’s cute.

“Thanks, dear guest!”

“I’m called Takeru.”

“I’m Erie.”

“I’ll be in your care.”

After shaking my hand, Erie ran off with a bounce.

Little girls are not my type but children are cute, it’s that kind of thing.

Now then, I learned some good information. Cleaning the body with magic, she said. If I think of it in the same way as 『Search』 I might be able to use it.

Cleanliness is important. More than anything, it’s important. Just by having a lack of hygiene, one could get sick after all.

“Mmm—-………. It’s to make the body clean, right? Purification……would be like lifting off abnormal conditions, wouldn’t it? Not like that… to wash, to make clean…….. clean……. 『Clean*』is it?”

[T/N: This was written in katakana, in it’s English reading. The previous times he said “clean,” he used the Japanese word seiketsu. ]

As I opened my eyes wide and chanted, my whole body was covered in pale light.

It was over before knew it, but the  icky feeling on my hair and the sticky feeling on my skin from way before now has completely disappeared. It was like taking a bath and then drying the whole body after that.

It was not just myself, but also the clothes I wore on my body were also cleaned up.

“This is convenient!! It’s convenient but feels extremely unsatisfying! But it’s convenient!”

For me, who loves long, leisurely baths, it may be unsatisfying, let’s just endure it with this magic. Eventually, I’ll definitely go to a public bathhouse and enter a bath, you’ll see!
